TikTok is experimenting with a new format on the app: text posts.
The popular video app, owned by parent company ByteDance, announced Monday that text posts will be the latest addition to TikTok's features, which include live videos, photos, duets, where other users can post their own videos side-by-side and stitches, where users can combine their videos with an original posted video.
By adding a text post option, TikTok is joining other social media platforms that already have a text feature as a mainstay, including Twitter, Facebook, Threads, Instagram Stories and Tumblr.
The feature is available to be used in the app as of Monday.
"With text posts, we're expanding the boundaries of content creation for everyone on TikTok, giving the written creativity we've seen in comments, captions and videos a dedicated space to shine," according to a press release from TikTok.
Here's how to access text posts on TikTok:
How to create a text post on TikTok
First, you'll need to access the camera page in the app to make a text post, where you'll have three options: photo, video and text. From there, you'll be directed to a page where you can create your text post.
Like its other features, TikTok will allow you to add stickers, tags, hashtags, sounds and locations, to text posts, as well as enable comments and duets.

TikTok text posts arrive as Twitter begins "X" rebrand
TikTok's announcement comes as Twitter owner Elon Musk changed the platform's logo over the weekend from its iconic blue bird to a black-and-white "X."
Musk announced the logo change in a series of tweets.
“And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” Musk wrote on his Twitter account Sunday.
Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino added to Musk's announcement, tweeting that the rebranding will transform the "global town square."
